Safeguarding

At Mossley Hill Childcare we intend to create an environment in which children are safe and where any suspicion of abuse is promptly and appropriately responded to.  We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of all children and their families.  We recognise our responsibilities to take all reasonable steps to promote safe practice and to protect children from harm, abuse and neglect.  Mossley Hill Childcare acknowledges its duty to act appropriately with regards to any allegations towards a member of staff or volunteer, or towards any disclosures or suspicion of abuse.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is  Carla Mbimbi

SEND

At Mossley Hill Childcare, Jodie is our dedicated Early Years Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO). All children with SEN are taught alongside their peers and are fully included in all activities. Jodie co-ordinates the provision of support for children with SEND ensuring that parents are involved and that their insights are used to inform the setting’s actions. Jodie liaises with a range of professionals and agencies outside of the setting, to identify Special Educational Needs and agree outcomes.

Children with SEND engage in sensory play and plans focus on activities to stimulate their senses. Musical activities can help improve concentration and enhance creativity. Outdoor physical play is planned to promote the development of gross motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination. Activities involving a variety of materials for children to manipulate, such as playdough, finger paints and sand together with tracing & drawing activities can be used to develop fine motor skills.

At Mossley Hill Childcare we make sure all children feel valued and supported, regardless of their ability or background, making reasonable adjustments to remove barriers to learning. We celebrate all children’s achievements and ensure that children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the best possible educational outcomes.
